It's Giving Unliving

We had the amazing opportunity to work on the Lisa Frankenstein digital and social campaign – a fun “coming of RAGE love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse.” The film was a visual feast, filled with vibrant color and love letters to the 80s throughout, yet still feeling very modern and fresh so we aimed to evoke that same feeling with our creative. Balancing the camp with the killing, the young and vibrant with the dark and goth, the beauty and macabre.

We had the incredible opportunity to make a TIkTok lens game for this property. We kept the look and feel authentic to the 80s by creating 8-bit illustrations. Because this is a monster movie, and to make the social capture videos more fun, the user is able to scream to jump. So each time you scream you can make Lisa jump over obstacles as she navigates a graveyard. We saw a lot of really fun social videos come from that mechanic, over 2,000 currently, and even from the star of the film, Kathryn Newton herself which currently has over 15 million views on TikTok

Shake to Raise the Dead

The Monster is brought back to life through electricity and its a reoccurring device throughout the film, so we brought our creative to life with that electric neon light. Taking inspiration from 80s film posters for texture, composition, and tone to play into the camp.

We utilized a brand new interactive ad format where the user is able to shake their phone to interact with the ad. We created an ad where when you shake your phone you raise the dead and bring the monster back to life with lightning bolts.

Stitched Reviews

In the movie Lisa is a seamstress and stitches Cole’s character back together, so we used that device to create seamless carousels with fan reviews in real time.

Topical Content

We also tapped into the community through topical posts that tied this film into cultural events taking place in the promotional window.

As an undead play on Rihanna’s iconic super bowl post we recreated the visual of her hand and the football using Cole’s character to bring Lisa into the zeitgeist for the Superbowl.

For Valentine’s day we created sharable anti-valentine’s we like to call Valensteins.
